IoTSWC 2017 with Advansys ESC
Advansys ESC is proud to have actively participated in the third edition of The Internet of Things Solutions World Congress (IoTSWC); the largest IoT event worldwide that took place in Barcelona October 3-5, 2017.
Advansys ESC Business Development Director Tarek El Araby moderated a panel called “Co-Location of Robots and Humans: Ensuring Safety in the Workplace”. Joining the panel were ARNO STROTGEN, Global Head of Customer Service ABB Robotics Business Unit, and COLIN L’ANSON, HPE Fellow Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE).
The panel started with discussing the evolution of robots from being locked in cages to working collaboratively and in close proximity with humans. Then explored risks of hacking robots and measures needed to ensure the security of robots.
Data and cloud computing impact took a significant part of the discussion. The increased amounts of sensors on robots and the large amounts of data being collected it is expected to add more capabilities to robots through leveraging technologies like Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML).
The panel took a turn when the discussion started about the social aspects of the relationship between robots and humans and the major impact on the physical and mental wellbeing of operators and the ways and technologies to prevent that from happening.
The future of robots in the workplace and how the relationship with humans is expected to grow over the next 3 years was the concluding remarks for the panel before the floor was opened for the audience to ask the panelists.
In addition to the panel moderation, Advansys ESC Innovation Manager Enas Ashraf actively participated in the Congress Program as Technical Program Committee Member.
